Technology Is Shaping Cosmetology

We said there’s a Beauty Revolution happening! Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all beauty. Consumers want haircare, skincare, and cosmetics tailored to their needs, preferences, and goals. Advances in beauty tech deliver personalized options to consumers. These advances continue to shape the future of treatments, tools, and client interactions. If you’re wondering, “What can I do with my cosmetology license,” explore some of the opportunities created by beauty technology.

Virtual Consults and Customization

Consumers can now have a virtual consult or chat with their esthetician or stylist. They can receive product recommendations and regimens based on their needs. Virtual consults offer new opportunities beyond traditional spas or salons for those with a cosmetology license.

Meet with your client from the comfort of your home or office. Use your cosmetology education to become a consultant. You’ll be able to answer client questions and make recommendations virtually

Social Media Beauty Influencers

Social media influencers play a dynamic role in the beauty industry through tutorials, and product reviews. With Instagram, Youtube, and TikTok, influencers can reach global audiences within their niche. Enjoy sharing new products and teaching others? Consider becoming a social media influencer. Use cosmetology school as a springboard to give you the confidence and knowledge needed. You’ve been wondering, “what can you do with an esthetics license?” Having this expertise is a great foundation for a social media influencer focused on skincare.

Augmented Reality in the Beauty Industry

Augmented reality apps are being used by the biggest names in beauty, including Redken, Sephora, MAC, and L’oreal. These apps allow users to test drive cosmetics, hairstyles, extensions, brow shapes, and eyelash lengths, all by using a 3D scan of the face. These apps open the door for cosmetology professionals to help develop these types of apps. Cosmetologists can also use these apps to help their clients make informed choices on products and treatments.

Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)

A.I. provides smarter, personalized options to consumers through the gathering and calculation of data. It is being used to customize skincare regimens for consumers using facial photos. Data like weather and air quality, menstrual cycles, and stress levels are input to personalize treatments.

If you’re thinking of becoming an esthetician, imagine having that data at your fingertips to make recommendations for your clients.

New devices used in beauty are influencing treatments in all areas of the industry. Light therapy devices are increasingly being used for hair restoration and skincare treatments. Learning these modern technologies can give you an edge in your field.

PLEASE REMEMBER, All contacts and forms need to go to the guest services page. I am training guest services to answer these emails.

Also, can we please fix the huge ugly google review on the home screen? I think it will be okay just on the review page.

Can you change the background colors from gray to something more flattering?

What Pairs Best with an Amazing New Hair Style? A Gorgeous Smile, Of Course!

Have you ever noticed how someone’s smile is one of the primary things you notice when you meet them for the first time? You know what that means don’t you? That’s the first thing they’re drawn to about you as well.

As a hairstylist, I have ample time to chat with my clients while I am washing, cutting, coloring, and styling their hair. To make the conversation more engaging, I always try to ask my them interesting questions. Something I like to know is, other than their hair, what one physical attribute about themselves they would like to enhance in order to boost their confidence. You might be surprised to hear that the most common answer I get is, “my smile.” I was inspired to come up with a few tips that can help you get the smile of your dreams to go along with your hairstyle so that you can be the most self-assured version of you.

Adopt a Regular Oral Hygiene Routine

Maybe you’re already a rock star when it comes to taking care of your pearly whites, but you might be surprised to hear that 30% of the population either only flosses when they feel the need or not at all! It’s really important to make sure you are doing this as well as brushing, because the two work together to remove cavity-causing plaque and bacteria from your mouth.

Get Your Teeth Professionally Whitened

When the conversation about smile enhancement comes up, one of the most common pieces of feedback I get is that my clients wish their teeth were whiter. Many of them confess to me that they’ve tried over-the-counter strips and gels, but they never got the results they’re looking for. Professional teeth whitening is non-invasive, quick, and guaranteed to be effective. Whether you opt for professional in-office whitening, or medical-grade take-home trays, you can be confident that your teeth will shine brighter than ever. You’ll finally have the confidence to flaunt that new hairstyle with a stunning smile to go with it.

Get Things Straight

It is probably no shocker to you that “straighter teeth” is the second most common thing I hear my clients say they’d like to change about their smiles. Have you been putting off talking to your dentist about teeth-straightening because you don’t want to have to deal with unsightly metal wires and brackets? Good news – you don’t have to! Invisalign has totally transformed the teeth-straightening process, so now you can have the smile you’ve always wanted without having to sacrifice by wearing braces.

Maybe you have got an event coming up, or perhaps you’re just craving a fresh new do. No matter what the reason for your visit, Headmasters has you covered! While we have the skills to make your hair look incredible, there’s one other thing that you’ll need to bring your confidence up a notch, and that’s a beautiful smile! You can know for a fact that whenever you walk through our doors, we are committed to making sure that you leave feeling more than satisfied with the results.

Staying Positive in a Negative Time

My intent for this blog was to educate you on dandruff - give you tips and tell you about the product we sell in our facility to help with this common problem like how to keep your scalp healthy. Yes, dandruff is more common than you would think!! I completed all my research and had everything outlined. All I had to do was sit down and write the article. But my heart was led in a different direction.

Since the Coronavirus, also known as the COVID-19 pandemic, and the mandates put out by our governor and city officials, it is old news that we closed the doors to our salon and stopped performing services. We do realize it is for the betterment of our community and that we all need to do our part in slowing down the spread of this awful virus. It is hard being positive right now, but we are taking many positive action steps for you. Are you being positive at a negative time?

I know one thing: business and life are about challenges. We live in a world of polarities - ups and downs, the good and the bad, day and night, cold and warm. With that being said, at this point, we are faced with the challenge of providing the best career opportunity for our stylists and supplying our guests with products they need while we all practice “Social Distancing” to flatten the CURVE!

Our main focus is on our stylists and guests. We have been working hard to create an online shopping cart where you can purchase the products you need and gift cards for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries. Right now, we are offering products online through our Facebook page as well as discounts on eGift Cards you can purchase for yourself or someone else whether as a gift or even a “Thank You” for working during these trying times. HeadMasters is a Redken Certified salon and a state-of-the-art locally owned business. All of our stylists are given the resources and continuing education they need to help improve their skills and better their careers. This is the perfect time to contribute to your local community and businesses who are in need of your help. Why? Because this is only a moment in time that will pass, and you can do your part to help others even when you are forced to stay home. We have not forgotten about you and we hope you have not forgotten about us!

As I end this blog, I want you to get rid of the fearful mindset and take action! You can go from fear to empowerment. Stay away from the negativity. While you are doing your part to flatten the curve, create a positive mindset to help you overcome… get up, get dressed, eat right, stay active. One of my favorite quotes from Helen Keller is “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it”. I love this quote because she was an over comer. She had so many reasons not to succeed, but she did. We at HeadMasters are taking action to make a difference in the community and for our stylists, our future stylists, our guests, and future guests. We encourage everyone to always practice good hygiene and keep your momentum. It may be dark and it may be difficult, but you can overcome this and we will see you on the upside.

Winter is the time to LOVE your hair the most. We often link summer’s dry heat with hair damage, but winter can take a huge toll on our beautiful strands too. Chilly days outside and central heating indoors can dry your hair out until it loses shine, volume and feels limp and brittle. And, taking care of our hair in the winter is uncharted territory especially for us Texas folks!!

If you have been dealing with any of these plus the frizzes, you are not alone. Redken says, “As the temperature drops, a new crop of hair issues starts to arise. Our roots begin to frizz and our ends rapidly dry out.” So, what is the answer to this you ask? Keep reading for 5 things Redken suggests for restoring moisture to your precious locks.

  1. 1. Lock in Moisture

It’s no secret that winter weather can be super drying on our strands. Be proactive this winter season by using products that will help to hydrate your strands and protect your hair from damage or breakage. By reaching for products that help to lock in moisture, you can better protect your ends and save yourself from heading to the salon.

Redken's All Soft Mega Hydramelt Leave-In Treatment is an amazing option for keeping hair nourished and moisturized in the wintertime. The innovative formula is lightweight and can be used on all hair types to hydrate while increasing softness and shine.

  1. 2. Fight Flakes

As the temperature starts to plummet, so does the condition of our scalp. Between the chilly outdoor temperatures and the warm indoor heat, our scalps can become very dry and flaky. To help ward off the flakes and to keep your favorite black sweater looking spotless, switch to a shampoo that contains salicylic acid. This powerful ingredient works wonders at exfoliating the scalp, removing dead skin cells and breaking down any built-up product on the scalp. Use this exfoliating shampoo as needed to keep your hair free from flakes.

  1. 3. Add Shine

In the winter, your hair color can start to look dull or faded due to the dryness in the strands. Replenish your hair’s natural sheen by using a shine spray throughout your ends. Adding shine back to your strands can help to revitalize your hair color and make your strands look more vibrant.

  1. 4. Use A Heat Protectant

Get a heat protectant with dual benefits—protect your hair from heat damage as well as smooth your ends. It’s a one-two punch for keeping your hair looking fabulous 5. when styling your hair this winter.

  1. 5. Pump Up the Volume

Besides frizz, flattened roots are another annoying hair issue that comes with winter hat hair. In order to keep your roots looking full and voluminous, reach for a dry shampoo to help boost your strands. Simply spray throughout your roots and comb through with a metal brush to help liven up your hair.

With a little extra effort, you can keep your hair hydrated and looking great this winter. But if you want quick results or have any questions about Redken products, we suggest you call, (903) 266-9192, and talk with a HeadMasters expert.
